Turning Worries into Motivation

The stories grade 3-4 are deliberately written in language that is understandable for parents. So extra explanation is (intentionally) required while reading the story. This creates a more intense parent-child relationship.

(A Story About 2 TFM – Use the Voice of Insecurity for Amusement and Inspiration)

Inse sat at his desk, frowning at his math homework. The numbers on the page looked like a confusing mess.

“You’re never going to figure this out,” the voice of insecurity whispered.

Inse’s stomach tightened. He wanted to push the homework away and forget about it.

Just then, Curity walked in and saw his frustrated expression. “Uh-oh, what’s wrong, Inse?”

“I don’t get this math problem,” he groaned. “And the more I try, the worse I feel. I think I’m just bad at math.”

Curity smiled. “Sounds like the voice of insecurity is talking again.”

Inse sighed. “Yeah, and it’s not helping.”

Curity sat next to him. “What if, instead of letting that voice stop you, you used it instead?”

Inse raised an eyebrow. “Used it how?”

Curity grinned. “Today’s transformation is all about using the voice of insecurity for amusement and inspiration. That means instead of feeling bad when insecurity says ‘You can’t do this,’ you laugh at it—and then prove it wrong!”

Inse blinked. “Laugh at it?”

Curity nodded. “Try it! Next time that little voice says something negative, say, ‘Oh yeah? Watch me!’”

Inse looked back at his homework. That voice popped up again: You’ll never solve this problem!

He smirked. Oh yeah? Watch me!

He grabbed his pencil and tried again. At first, he still felt unsure, but he kept pushing forward.

When he got stuck, he took a deep breath and imagined the voice of insecurity looking surprised. Wait a second… you’re actually trying?!

That made him chuckle. He kept going.

After a few more tries, something clicked. “Hey, I think I got it!” he said excitedly.

Curity clapped. “See? That voice isn’t your enemy—it’s your challenge! And you just proved it wrong!”

The next day in class, Inse felt a little braver. When he struggled with a problem, he didn’t give up. Instead, he grinned and thought, Oh yeah, voice of insecurity? Watch me!

And he kept going—one problem at a time.
