It was a sunny morning in Willowdale, and Inse and Curity walked side by side on their way to school. Inse’s feet dragged a little, and his face was scrunched with worry.
Curity noticed. “What’s up, Inse?” she asked.
“I have a math test today,” Inse sighed. “I just know I’m going to mess up. The voice in my head keeps telling me I’m not good enough.”
Curity gave him a warm smile. “That’s the Voice of Insecurity talking. But remember, you don’t have to listen to it. You can let the Voice of Security be your guide instead.”
Inse blinked. “What do you mean?”
Curity pointed to a small garden outside their school. “See those tiny seeds in the dirt? Right now, they might look weak, but with water, sunshine, and time, they’ll grow into strong plants. Your confidence works the same way! If you feed your Voice of Security with positive thoughts, it will grow, and soon, you’ll believe in yourself more.”
Inse looked at the little garden. “But what if I don’t do well on my test?”
Curity shrugged. “So what? Every mistake helps you learn. Instead of listening to your doubts, try saying, ‘I can learn from this!’ That’s how you let the Voice of Security guide you.”
Inse took a deep breath. “Okay… I’ll try.”
Later, during the test, the Voice of Insecurity whispered, What if you get everything wrong? But this time, Inse paused and reminded himself, I am learning and growing. He focused, did his best, and finished with a smile.
After school, he and Curity walked past the same garden. Inse grinned. “I think I planted a little confidence today.”
Curity beamed. “That’s the spirit! Keep watering it, and soon, it’ll bloom.”
As the sun set over Willowdale, Inse felt something new inside—the strength of his own Voice of Security.
