“The Power of Attendance: Inse and Curity Learn to Show Up”

Share Adventure

The stories age 4+ are deliberately written in language that is understandable for parents. So extra explanation is (intentionally) required while reading the bedtime story. This creates more intense parent-child relationship.

As the sun set in the sky, Inse was feeling nervous about the next day. He knew he had to wake up early and go to school, but he couldn’t shake off the feeling of fear that was creeping up on him.

Just then, Curity walked into the room, and she could tell that something was bothering Inse. “What’s wrong, little brother?” she asked with a gentle smile.

Inse looked up at her with teary eyes and said, “I’m scared about going to school tomorrow. What if I’m late and everyone laughs at me?”

Curity sat down next to Inse and put her arm around him. “It’s natural to feel nervous, Inse,” she said, “but you don’t have to let your fears control you. You can use the five transformations to overcome them.”

Inse looked at her with a puzzled expression, so Curity explained: “The five transformations are ways to listen to the voices inside your head and make good decisions. First, you ignore the voice of insecurity, then you use it as inspiration and amusement. After that, you listen to the voice of security, take action, and finally, you befriend the two inner voices.”

Inse was still confused, so Curity continued, “Let me show you. Instead of worrying about being late, let’s make a plan to ensure we get to school on time. We can set an alarm, pack our bags the night before, and wake up early to get ready. That way, we won’t have to worry about being late.”

Inse smiled at the idea and began to feel more confident. With Curity’s help, he followed through with the plan and made it to school on time the next day. He even received a perfect attendance award at the end of the school year, which made him feel proud and accomplished.

As they snuggled up in bed that night, Curity reminded Inse of the five transformations once more, and they talked about how they could use them in different situations. Inse drifted off to sleep feeling safe and secure, knowing that he had his sister to help him overcome his fears.

The End.
