Day 2 – Ignore the Voice of Insecurity

Scene Setting:

A dimly lit rooftop bar in Los Angeles. The air smelled of citrus and expensive cologne, the chatter of the elite mixing with the clinking of crystal glasses. Inse, 35, swirled the whiskey in his glass, staring down at the city lights. He had dressed well, tailored navy suit, open collar, polished shoes, but he still felt out of place.

Across from him, Curity sat effortlessly elegant in a designer gown, one diamond-studded hand holding a flute of champagne, the other scrolling through her phone. She had been in this world for years, red carpet events, celebrity charity galas, magazine covers featuring her and her famous husband.

Inse sighed. “You know, sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever find the right person again.”

Curity glanced up, raising an eyebrow. “Oh, great. This again.”

“I’m serious.” He took a sip of his drink. “It’s been two years since my divorce, and every date feels like an interview. Everyone’s looking for perfection, perfect job, perfect lifestyle, perfect body. I scroll through social media, and it’s just happy couples looking flawless. And I keep thinking… maybe I’m not good enough anymore.”

Curity’s smirk disappeared. “And there it is. The Voice of Insecurity, making its grand entrance. Dramatic as always.”

Inse chuckled dryly. “I mean, look at you and your husband. You have the perfect marriage, perfect kids, perfect life. Meanwhile, I can barely balance work, parenting, and dating.”

Curity set her phone down. “First of all, stop romanticizing my life. Just because we look great in pictures doesn’t mean marriage is some effortless fairy tale. Do you think red carpets and social media posts show the real struggles?”

Inse hesitated. “I mean… you make it seem perfect.”

“Exactly. Seem being the keyword.” She leaned forward. “Inse, your problem isn’t that you’re undateable. It’s that you’re listening to that insecure voice in your head telling you that love has to look a certain way to be real. That’s nonsense.”

Inse sighed, rubbing his temple. “I don’t know. Every time I meet someone, I feel like I’m being measured. Am I successful enough? Am I attractive enough? Am I, “

Curity interrupted. “Ignore. That. Voice.”

Inse looked up.

Curity continued, “The moment you start believing you’re not ‘enough,’ you start acting like you’re not enough. And guess what? That energy is noticeable. No one wants to date a guy who’s mentally apologizing for existing.”

Inse frowned. “So, what? I just pretend to be more confident?”

“No. You be more confident. And confidence isn’t some act, it’s recognizing that you don’t need to prove anything to anyone. The right person isn’t looking for perfect. They’re looking for real. But if you let the Voice of Insecurity run your mind, you’ll attract people who feed off of that doubt.”

Inse took another sip, considering her words. “So, I should just… ignore the feeling that I’m not good enough?”

“Yes,” Curity said firmly. “The voice in your head is lying to you. You’re a successful lawyer, a great dad, a smart, interesting guy. You don’t need to ‘measure up.’ You just need to be present. Let people meet you, not your insecurities.”

Inse exhaled slowly. “Easier said than done.”

Curity smirked. “Of course. But every time that voice creeps in, telling you that you’re not worthy, shut it down. That’s day two of the challenge. Ignore the Voice of Insecurity.”

Takeaways from Day 2 – Ignore the Voice of Insecurity in Relationships

  1. Social Media Lies: What looks like a perfect relationship online is just a highlight reel. Real love isn’t about aesthetics, it’s about connection.
  2. Self-Doubt Sabotages Dating: If you believe you’re not enough, you’ll attract people who reinforce that belief.
  3. Ignore the Voice of Insecurity: Recognize that inner doubt for what it is, a false narrative trying to hold you back.
  4. Confidence Comes from Authenticity: The right person isn’t looking for ‘perfect.’ They’re looking for someone real.
  5. You Are Enough, as You Are: Stop trying to prove your worth. The right person will see it without you needing to convince them.

As Inse left the bar, he made a silent vow, next time he went on a date, he wouldn’t let the Voice of Insecurity define him.
