“The Magic of Disappointment”

Share Adventure

The stories age 4+ are deliberately written in language that is understandable for parents. So extra explanation is (intentionally) required while reading the bedtime story. This creates more intense parent-child relationship.

Once upon a time, there was a young boy named Inse who had been looking forward to going to the park all week. He loved playing on the swings, going down the slide, and running around with his friends. But on the day he was supposed to go, it started raining heavily, and he couldn’t go to the park anymore.

Inse was very disappointed and sad. He didn’t know what to do. That’s when his sister, Curity, came to him and reminded him of the five transformations.

She told him that it was okay to feel disappointed and that it was a normal part of life. She also reminded him to use the voice of insecurity as amusement and inspiration. Inse started to think about what he could do instead of going to the park.

Then, Curity suggested they have an indoor picnic in the living room. Inse loved the idea and started to feel excited again. They got a blanket, some snacks, and drinks, and set up their picnic in the living room.

As they were having their indoor picnic, Inse realized that he was having just as much fun as he would have had at the park. He realized that sometimes things don’t go as planned, but there are always other ways to have fun.

The story ends with Inse realizing the magic of disappointment and how it can lead to unexpected and enjoyable experiences. He felt grateful for his sister’s guidance and happy for having such a great time with her.

Inse and Curity’s dialogues throughout the story help explain the five transformations and how they can be used in dealing with disappointment.
