Taking Action to Discover Books

The stories grade 3-4 are deliberately written in language that is understandable for parents. So extra explanation is (intentionally) required while reading the story. This creates a more intense parent-child relationship.

(A Story About 4 TFM – Act Despite the Voice of Insecurity)

Inse sat cross-legged on the floor, gripping his video game controller. The colorful characters zipped across the screen as he mashed the buttons. Reading? That was the last thing on his mind.

Books had always seemed boring to him. Too many words, not enough action.

Curity walked into the room and plopped down beside him. “Hey, Inse, have you ever read a book about video games?”

Inse paused the game. “Books about video games?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Curity nodded. “Yep! There are stories about kids getting trapped in video games, books with secret cheat codes, and even guides on how to get better at playing.”

Inse hesitated. The voice of insecurity in his head whispered, Books are too hard. You’ll get bored. Don’t even bother.

Curity saw his uncertainty. “You know, today’s transformation is all about acting despite the voice of insecurity. That little voice telling you books aren’t for you? Prove it wrong by trying.”

Inse bit his lip. He didn’t want to read… but maybe just one book wouldn’t be so bad?

The next day, Curity took him to the library. At first, he felt overwhelmed—there were so many books! But as he walked through the aisles, something caught his eye.

A book about a kid who got sucked into his favorite video game.

Curity grinned. “Why not check it out?”

The voice of insecurity whispered, You won’t finish it.

But Inse took a deep breath and grabbed the book anyway. He was going to act despite the doubt.

That night, he curled up with the book. At first, the words felt tricky, but soon he was lost in the adventure.

The next morning, he ran to Curity. “This book is awesome! I didn’t think I’d like reading, but I do!”

Curity smiled. “See? You acted even though insecurity told you not to. That’s how we grow!”

From that day on, Inse read every day—not because he had to, but because he wanted to. And he had learned a powerful lesson:

Sometimes, the best way to beat doubt is to take action anyway.

4 TFM – Act Despite the Voice of Insecurity teaches us that we don’t have to wait to feel confident before we start something new. By taking action anyway, we push past our doubts and discover new possibilities! 😊
