Overcoming Stage Fright

Inse had been looking forward to giving his speech in class for weeks. He had chosen a topic that he was passionate about and had spent countless hours researching and practicing. However, as the day of the speech approached, he started to feel more and more nervous. The voice of insecurity in his head began to take over, telling him that he was going to mess up and embarrass himself in front of his classmates.

His older sister, Curity, noticed that Inse was feeling anxious and approached him as he sat at the kitchen table with his notes spread out in front of him.

“Inse, is everything okay?” she asked, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

Inse looked up at her with a worried expression. “I’m just really nervous about my speech,” he admitted. “What if I forget everything I want to say?”

Curity smiled reassuringly. “Remember the first transformation we learned? Ignore the voice of insecurity in your head. It’s normal to feel nervous before a big event like this, but you can’t let it control you.”

Inse nodded, taking a deep breath and trying to push the negative thoughts out of his mind. Curity sat down next to him and pulled out a notebook.

“Let’s practice your speech together,” she suggested. “I’ll be your audience and give you some feedback.”

Inse felt a knot in his stomach as he started to speak. His voice shook and he stumbled over some of his words. But Curity listened attentively and gave him some helpful tips on how to improve.

“Great job, Inse! You’re using the second transformation now,” she praised. “Use your voice of insecurity as amusement and inspiration. Instead of worrying about what could go wrong, think about what you can learn from this experience and how you can benefit from it.”

Inse tried to focus on the positive aspects of giving his speech. He thought about how proud he would feel if he did well and how interesting his classmates would find his topic.

“That’s it, Inse! You’re using the third transformation now,” Curity encouraged. “Be guided by the voice of security. Focus on your self-confidence, inspiration, and creativity.”

Inse began to feel more confident and excited about his speech. He practiced in front of Curity several more times, each time feeling more comfortable and prepared.

Finally, the day of the speech arrived. Inse woke up early and went over his notes one last time. He was still a little nervous, but he remembered the fourth transformation and took action. He stood up straight, looked at his classmates, and spoke clearly and confidently.

As he finished his speech, the room erupted in applause. Inse felt a rush of pride and relief. He had done it! He walked back to his seat, feeling like he could conquer the world.

Curitymet him with a big hug. “I’m so proud of you, Inse! You did an amazing job.”

Inse grinned from ear to ear. “Thanks, Curity. I couldn’t have done it without your help.”

They walked out of the classroom together, the sun shining brightly outside. “Remember the fifth transformation,” Curity reminded him. “Life is full of good and bad things. You will encounter both the voice of insecurity and the voice of security. The best way to deal with them is to befriend both inner voices and use them to your advantage.”

Inse nodded, feeling grateful for the support and wisdom of his older sister. He knew that he would face many more challenges in life, but with the five transformations, he felt confident that he could overcome anything.
