Listening to the Right Voice

The stories grade 3-4 are deliberately written in language that is understandable for parents. So extra explanation is (intentionally) required while reading the story. This creates a more intense parent-child relationship.

(A Story About 3 TFM – Let the Voice of Security Be Your Guide)

Inse sat at his desk, staring at his math worksheet. He tapped his pencil on the table, then spun it in his fingers. His mind kept jumping from one thought to another. I wonder what’s for lunch… I can’t wait to play soccer at recess… Oh! That new episode of my favorite show is out today!

Then, another thought crept in, a voice inside his head whispering, You’re never going to finish this. You’re not good at math anyway.

Inse sighed and dropped his pencil. Maybe the voice was right.

After school, he found Curity in the kitchen, finishing her homework. “I can’t focus in class,” he admitted. “And when I try, my brain tells me I’m bad at math.”

Curity put her notebook down. “That’s the voice of insecurity, Inse. But today, we’re practicing the third transformation—letting the voice of security be your guide.

Inse tilted his head. “But how do I do that?”

Curity smiled. “It’s simple. The voice of security is always there too. You just have to choose to listen to it instead.”

Inse frowned. “But what if the other voice is louder?”

Curity leaned closer. “Then turn up the volume on the voice of security! Next time you hear, ‘You can’t do this,’ try listening for a different voice—the one saying, ‘You can do this, just keep trying!’”

The next day in math class, Inse started another tricky problem. Almost immediately, the voice of insecurity whispered, You’re going to get it wrong.

But this time, Inse paused. What would the voice of security say?

Take your time. You’re smart. You can figure this out!

Inse took a deep breath and focused. One step at a time, he worked through the problem.

By the end of class, he had finished all the questions. Ms. Williams smiled. “Nice work, Inse! I can see you really focused today.”

Inse beamed. The voice of insecurity had tried to distract him, but this time, he had listened to the right voice.

As he walked home, he couldn’t wait to tell Curity. He had just learned something powerful—when he listened to the voice of security, he could accomplish anything!

3 TFM – Let the Voice of Security Be Your Guide teaches us that we always have two voices inside us—one that doubts us and one that believes in us. The more we choose to listen to the positive voice, the stronger it becomes! 😊
