It was another school morning, and Inse lay curled up under his blanket. His alarm had rung, but he had ignored it. The Voice of Insecurity whispered, “School is too hard. What if you make a mistake? What if no one talks to you?”
Across the street, Curity walked confidently toward Inse’s house, ready to walk him to school. She knocked on his door, waited, then knocked again. No answer. Finally, she called, “Inse, are you coming?”
A muffled voice answered, “I don’t think so…”
Curity sighed. She had been here before. But she knew exactly how to help.
“Inse,” she said, “I used to feel the same way when I was younger, but I learned a secret that changed everything. It’s called the Five Transformations!”
Inse peeked out from under his blanket. “Five what?”
Curity smiled. “Five ways to handle that voice in your head that tells you you’re not good enough. Let’s go through them!”
1 TFM – Ignore the Voice of Insecurity
“The first step is to ignore the voice of insecurity when it tells you to hide. You don’t have to listen to it!” Curity explained.
“But it’s so loud,” Inse muttered.
“So what? What if you just… didn’t answer back?” Curity said with a playful grin. “Pretend it’s like a TV playing in the background. You don’t have to watch it.”
Inse sat up a little. “Like ignoring my little brother when he makes annoying sounds?”
“Exactly!” Curity said.
2 TFM – Use the Voice of Insecurity for Amusement and Inspiration
“The second step,” Curity continued, “is to laugh at the voice of insecurity or turn it into something helpful.”
Inse raised an eyebrow. “Laugh at it?”
Curity nodded. “Imagine if the voice of insecurity sounded like a tiny mouse with a squeaky voice. ‘You’ll never get to school on time!’” she said, making her voice high-pitched.
Inse giggled. “That would be funny.”
“Or,” Curity added, “what if you used it for inspiration? Like, if it says you’re too tired to go to school, you say, ‘I bet I can prove you wrong!’”
Inse sat up fully now. “I like that.”
3 TFM – Let the Voice of Security Be Your Guide
“The third step is to listen to the voice of security instead,” Curity said. “That’s the one that says, ‘You’ve got this! Just take it one step at a time.’”
Inse took a deep breath and whispered, “I can do this. Just one step at a time.”
Curity beamed. “See? You’re already getting it!”
4 TFM – Act Despite the Voice of Insecurity
“The fourth step,” Curity said, “is to get up and do what you need to do, even if you’re still unsure. You don’t have to wait until you feel ready.”
Inse wiggled his toes under his blanket. “So… if I just get up, even if I don’t feel like it, I’m already winning?”
“Exactly!” Curity nodded. “Come on, just stand up.”
Inse took a deep breath and stood up.
5 TFM – Befriend Your Inner Voice
Curity clapped. “The last step is to be friends with your inner voice. The voice of insecurity isn’t bad—it’s just a little too worried. Instead of fighting it, you can say, ‘Hey, I hear you, but I’ve got this.’”
Inse grinned. “Okay, let’s go to school.”
Curity cheered. “Yes! You’re showing up for yourself!”
And just like that, Inse learned the power of attendance—showing up, even when the voice of insecurity tried to hold him back.
The more he practiced the Five Transformations, the easier it became.
