The park was alive with the sounds of children running, swinging, and laughing. Inse walked beside Curity, watching as a group of kids took turns on a massive rope swing tied to an old oak tree.
“That looks fun!” Curity said. “You should try it.”
Inse shrank back. “No way. What if I fall? What if I look ridiculous?”
A familiar voice slithered into his thoughts:
“Everyone will see you mess up. You’ll probably crash into the dirt.”
Inse sighed. “There it is again. The voice of insecurity.”
Curity smirked. “Good! Now, let’s use it.”
Inse frowned. “Use it?”
“Yep! Turn it into something funny or inspiring instead of letting it stop you.“
Inse thought for a second. “Like… pretending it’s a dramatic movie narrator?”
Curity nodded. “Exactly! Imagine it saying, ‘BEHOLD, Inse the Fearless prepares for the most daring swing of ALL TIME!’”
Inse grinned. “Or maybe it’s a tiny nervous mouse squeaking, ‘Oh no, Inse! You might launch into OUTER SPACE!’”
Curity burst out laughing. “Now THAT’S the spirit!”
Feeling amused, Inse grabbed the rope. The voice was still there, but now it sounded ridiculous.
“The world is watching, Inse! The ground is lava! Abort mission!”
Inse laughed and jumped.
The wind whipped past him as he swung higher and higher. He felt light, free—like nothing could stop him.
When he finally landed, Curity cheered. “You did it! And the world didn’t end!”
Inse grinned. “Yeah! That voice still tried to scare me, but turning it into something silly made it so much easier.”
“That’s 2 TFM – Using the Voice of Insecurity for Amusement and Inspiration!” Curity said. “Next time you feel doubt creeping in, make it into a joke or a challenge.”
Inse nodded. Maybe he’d try new things more often. Maybe his voice of insecurity could actually help him—if he learned to laugh at it.
