The Announcement
Inse’s teacher stood at the front of the class.
“Tomorrow, everyone will give a two-minute speech.”
Inse felt his stomach drop. A speech? In front of everyone?
He spent the whole afternoon dreading it. Finally, he found Curity sitting on the porch.
“I can’t do this speech. What if I mess up? What if everyone laughs at me?”
Curity nodded. “That’s your Voice of Insecurity talking. Time for the First Transformation—Ignore the Voice of Insecurity.”
“But it’s so loud!”
Curity grinned. “Then don’t fight it. Just let it be there—like background noise. You don’t have to listen to it.”
Inse took a deep breath. Okay, I’ll try.
Turning Fear Into Fuel
Later that evening, Inse sat in his room, still feeling nervous.
“Ugh, what if I forget my words?”
Curity poked her head in. “That’s where Second Transformation comes in—Use the Voice of Insecurity for Amusement and Inspiration!”
“How?”
“Turn your nerves into something useful! Let’s say you’re worried about sounding boring—why not use that to make your speech more interesting?”
Inse thought for a moment. “I could add a joke at the beginning!”
Curity clapped. “That’s the spirit!”
Finding Confidence
The next morning, Inse practiced again, this time standing in front of the mirror.
He straightened his shoulders. I can do this.
“Now you’re using the Third Transformation—Let the Voice of Security be Your Guide,” Curity said from the doorway. “That voice is telling you, ‘You’re prepared. You know your speech. You’ve got this.’”
Inse nodded. Maybe I do.
Facing the Fear
At school, his name was called. He stood up, heart pounding.
I can’t do this.
Then, he heard Curity’s voice in his mind:
“Fourth Transformation—Act Despite the Voice of Insecurity!”
He stepped to the front of the class. Even though his nerves were screaming, he acted anyway.
He cleared his throat and started speaking. His voice was shaky at first, but then he remembered his joke.
“The best way to survive a speech is to imagine everyone in their pajamas,” he said. “Unless it’s pajama day—then you’re out of luck!”
The class laughed. He smiled. I’m doing it!
The Big Realization
As he finished his speech, the class clapped. His teacher smiled.
When he sat back down, Curity whispered, “See? You just did the Fifth Transformation—Befriend Your Inner Voice.“
Inse blinked. “I did?”
“You didn’t get rid of the Voice of Insecurity—you learned to work with it.”
Inse grinned. “I guess I did.”
That day, he realized something: nerves would always be there, but so would his Voice of Security. And now, he knew how to listen to the right one.
