Inse and the Brave Hand

The stories grade 3-4 are deliberately written in language that is understandable for parents. So extra explanation is (intentionally) required while reading the story. This creates a more intense parent-child relationship.

Title: “Inse and the Brave Hand”

Inse sat in class, staring at the math problem on his worksheet. He had a question, but his hand stayed frozen on his desk.

“If I ask, everyone will think I’m not smart.”
“What if I say something silly?”

The voice of insecurity whispered in his mind, making his stomach twist into knots.

Across the room, Curity peeked in from the hallway. She noticed Inse’s nervous face and gave him a thumbs-up.

“You know what to do,” her smile seemed to say.

Inse took a deep breath. He remembered what Curity had taught him.

“Sometimes, insecurity won’t go away,” she had explained, “but that doesn’t mean you can’t act. 4 TFM – Act Despite the Voice of Insecurity means doing something even when you feel nervous.”

He squeezed his hands into fists, then relaxed them.

“The voice of insecurity is just noise,” he reminded himself. “I can ask my question anyway.”

Slowly, Inse raised his hand.

The teacher smiled. “Yes, Inse?”

He gulped. “I don’t understand this part. Can you explain it again?”

The teacher nodded. “Great question! Let’s go over it together.”

Inse felt his heartbeat slow. No one laughed. No one thought he was silly. And now, he understood the problem!

After class, Curity met him outside. “You did it!”

Inse grinned. “I still felt nervous, but I asked anyway.”

Curity nodded. “That’s acting despite the voice of insecurity! The more you do it, the stronger your confidence will grow.”

Inse smiled. He was ready to raise his hand again next time.

The End.
