Inse’s stomach felt like it was tied in knots as he walked into the classroom. Today was the big math test, and he wasn’t sure if he was ready.
What if I get all the answers wrong? the voice of insecurity whispered in his head. What if I fail?
His big sister, Curity, was already sitting at her desk, looking calm and confident. Inse wished he could feel that way too.
Before the test started, Curity leaned over and whispered, “Remember what we learned this week? 1 TFM – Ignore the Voice of Insecurity. You don’t have to listen to those worried thoughts.”
Inse took a deep breath. Ignore the voice of insecurity, he reminded himself.
When the test began, his mind still tried to wander. But instead of letting the nervous voice take over, he focused on the problems in front of him. He ignored the doubts and did his best.
After the test, Curity met him outside the classroom. “How do you think you did?” she asked.
“I’m not sure,” Inse admitted. “But I tried really hard.”
Curity smiled. “That’s all that matters! You ignored the voice of insecurity and focused on what you could do.”
Later, when the teacher returned their tests, Inse saw he had done better than he thought! He grinned, feeling proud of himself.
“Ignore the voice of insecurity,” he whispered to himself. “And trust that I can do my best.”
And from that day on, whenever he felt nervous, he remembered that lesson—because sometimes, the best way to win against fear is to stop listening to it.
