Inse sat at his desk in the classroom, fidgeting with his pencil and unable to focus on the math problem in front of him. His mind kept wandering to thoughts of the playground, video games, and his favorite TV show. He felt the voice of insecurity creeping in, telling him that he would never be good at math and that he should just give up.
Meanwhile, his older sister, Curity, was in a nearby classroom, acing her own math test. She had always been confident and focused, listening to the voice of security and pushing herself to do her best.
Later that day, Inse approached Curity and told her about his struggles in math class. She listened carefully and then began to teach him about the first transformation – ignoring the voice of insecurity.
“But how do I do that?” Inse asked, feeling frustrated.
“You laugh at it,” Curity explained. “When you hear that voice telling you that you’re not good at something, you laugh and tell it to go away. It’s just a silly thought that’s not true.”
Inse tried to imagine himself laughing at the voice of insecurity, but it was hard. He had always taken it seriously before.
Curity noticed his hesitation and then taught him about the second transformation – using the voice of insecurity as amusement and inspiration.
“Instead of being upset by that voice, use it to inspire you to do better,” she said. “Think about what it’s telling you and then find ways to prove it wrong. Show that voice that you can do anything you set your mind to.”
Inse thought about this for a moment and then felt a new sense of determination. He was going to show that voice of insecurity who was boss.
The next day, Inse walked into math class feeling more confident. He remembered what Curity had told him and tried to push away the voice of insecurity whenever it crept in. Instead, he listened to the voice of security, telling him that he was smart and capable.
As he worked on his math problems, he felt himself getting more and more focused. He was determined to get the right answer, no matter how long it took.
After what felt like hours, Inse finally finished the last problem. He looked up and saw the smile on his teacher’s face.
“Good job, Inse,” she said. “You really focused and did your best.”
Inse felt a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over him. He had done it! He had listened to the voice of security and overcome his fears and insecurities.
Later that day, he went to find Curity and tell her about his success.
“Thank you for teaching me how to focus,” he said. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
Curity smiled and gave him a hug. “I’m proud of you, Inse. Keep listening to that voice of security and you’ll do great things.”
Inse felt a new sense of confidence and hope. He knew that he had a long way to go, but with Curity by his side and the five transformations as his guide, he was ready to take on the world.
The end.
