The stories grade 3-4 are deliberately written in language that is understandable for parents. So extra explanation is (intentionally) required while reading the story. This creates a more intense parent-child relationship.

Title: Inse and Curity Learn to Listen to the Voice of Security

The warm afternoon sun shone down on the park as Inse and Curity ran toward the open field. Their friend Max waved excitedly. “Hey! Want to play catch?”

Inse hesitated. What if he missed the ball? What if Max laughed at him? But before he could listen to those thoughts, Curity nudged him. “Come on, Inse! It’ll be fun.”

They tossed the ball back and forth, laughter filling the air—until Max threw the ball a little too hard.

SMACK!

The ball hit Inse right in the face. His eyes welled up with tears, and anger bubbled inside him. “Max! You did that on purpose!”

Max’s face turned red. “I didn’t mean to! I’m really sorry.”

But Inse wasn’t listening. He stomped away to sit on a bench, crossing his arms tightly. The voice of insecurity whispered, Max doesn’t care about you. He hurt you on purpose. You don’t need him.

Curity sat beside him. “Want to tell me what’s wrong?”

Inse frowned. “Max doesn’t care about me. He hit me with the ball and didn’t even think about how much it hurt.”

Curity shook her head. “I don’t think Max did it on purpose. Accidents happen, and he apologized.”

“But I’m still mad,” Inse admitted.

“That’s okay,” Curity said kindly. “It’s normal to feel angry. But if you only listen to the voice of insecurity, it’ll make you feel worse. Try listening to the voice of security instead. What does it say?”

Inse sat quietly. Then, he heard it.

Max wanted to play with you because he likes being your friend. He didn’t mean to hurt you. If you forgive him, you can go back to having fun together.

Inse took a deep breath. “I think… I think I should talk to Max.”

He walked back to the field. “Hey, Max… I’m sorry for getting so mad. I know you didn’t do it on purpose.”

Max grinned. “It’s okay! Want to keep playing?”

As they tossed the ball again, Inse felt lighter. The voice of security had helped him see the truth: forgiving his friend was way better than staying mad.

The End.
