The streets of Willowdale were buzzing with the morning rush. Inse and Curity walked toward school, but Inse’s shoulders were hunched.
Curity nudged him. “Alright, spill it. What’s bothering you?”
Inse sighed. “I have a math test today, and my Voice of Insecurity keeps saying I’ll fail. I feel like no matter how much I study, I just… won’t get it.”
Curity nodded. “I get it. But you know what? You don’t have to follow that voice. You can let the Voice of Security be your guide instead.”
Inse frowned. “How do I do that?”
Curity pointed to the school’s garden. “See those flowers? They didn’t start out strong. They were just tiny seeds. But instead of giving up, they soaked up the sunlight and kept growing.”
Inse raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, but they don’t have a voice in their head telling them they’re bad at growing.”
Curity chuckled. “True. But imagine if they did. What if they listened to doubts and never tried to push through the soil? They’d never bloom.”
Inse was quiet for a moment. “So, what do I do when my Voice of Insecurity talks?”
Curity smiled. “You replace it with the Voice of Security. Instead of saying, ‘I’m bad at math,’ try, ‘I can learn this. I’ve prepared, and I’ll do my best.’ The more you practice listening to the positive voice, the stronger it gets.”
During the test, Inse felt his usual worries creeping in. What if I mess up? But then, he took a deep breath and thought, I’ve studied. I can do this. He focused, answered the questions, and finished with confidence.
After school, Inse and Curity passed the garden again. “You were right,” Inse said. “I think I let my Voice of Security grow today.”
Curity grinned. “Keep watering it, and soon, you’ll have a whole garden of confidence.”
As they walked home, Inse realized something—his mind was like a garden, and he got to choose what grew.
The End.
