(A Story About 5 TFM – Befriend Your Inner Voice)
Inse sat at his desk, staring at a pile of homework. His math worksheet, reading assignment, and science project all sat in front of him, looking bigger and scarier by the second.
“You’ll never finish in time,” the voice of insecurity whispered.
“Maybe I should just give up,” Inse thought, feeling his chest tighten.
Just then, Curity walked in and noticed the worried look on his face.
“What’s wrong, Inse?” she asked, sitting next to him.
“I have so much work to do,” he groaned. “It’s too much. I’ll never get it done.”
Curity smiled. “I know that voice,” she said. “That’s the voice of insecurity, isn’t it?”
Inse nodded. “It won’t leave me alone.”
Curity leaned in. “What if I told you that you don’t have to fight it? Instead, you can learn to befriend it.”
Inse blinked. “Befriend it? Why would I want to do that?”
Curity pulled out a notebook. “Because that voice isn’t all bad. It’s just worried. But the voice of security is here too. You just have to listen to both and find balance.”
Together, they wrote down Inse’s assignments and broke them into smaller tasks.
The voice of insecurity whispered, It’s still too much!
But the voice of security said, One step at a time. You’ve got this.
Slowly, Inse got to work. Every time the voice of insecurity doubted him, the voice of security reminded him to keep going.
Before he knew it, he had finished half his work!
“I am getting things done!” he said, surprised.
Curity grinned. “See? Both voices are part of you. One tells you where the challenges are, and the other helps you through them. When they work together, you win.”
By the time the sun set, Inse had finished everything. He looked out the window at the pink and orange sky, feeling proud.
“Thanks, Curity,” he said. “I think I finally get it. I don’t have to ignore my worries—I just have to listen to the right voice at the right time.”
Curity gave him a high-five. “Now that’s the fifth transformation in action!”
As they went outside to watch the sunset, Inse felt peaceful. He had learned something important—he was in charge of his inner voices, not the other way around.
